Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal (RPP-N), on Monday called a valley bandh demanding that Nepal be declared a Hindu state, referendum on some key issues to be incorporated in the new constitution including constitutional monarchy and federalism. On Wednesday, these organizations had announced their protest programmes including boycott of transactions on February 21-22. Investors have put a 22-point charter of demands before the government including ending the policy of changing 19 per cent promoters' shares into general shares and setting new criteria for taxes on capital gain tax (CGT). The Obama administration will propose legislation that would allow the government to block excessive rate hikes by health insurance companies, a senior administration official told CNN Sunday. The official could not speak on the record because the White House has not yet formally announced the proposal.
